By viewing A1 drawings on a Green Bench you’re not only saving time, money and paper, you’re also helping save the planet. And by playing your part in improving waste management in the construction industry, you’re part of the bigger picture. Here’s why:
Despite being in the electronic age and many trying or intending to go paperless, the fact is we not only continue to use unsustainable amounts of paper now, the demand for paper is expected to double before 2030.
From 2001 to 2019, 386 million hectares of forest was lost globally. That’s almost a 10% decrease in global tree cover - in less than 20 years.
An estimated 18 million acres of forest are lost each year to paper production alone. To put that into perspective that’s equivalent to 20 football fields every minute.
Not only are there a staggering amount of trees lost to paper, the production process itself creates a number of other serious environmental issues by using enormous amounts of energy and water and contributing to air pollution and waste problems. In fact, it takes around 80 litres of water to produce just one A1 sheet of paper.
Paper consumption takes a heavy toll on trees and the environment so industries must look for ways to reduce their reliance on this costly resource. Whilst recycling can help reduce some of the problem, the solution that holds the greatest benefit is to implement technology solutions to drastically reduce the demand for paper products.
Green Bench is such a solution. Far superior to A1 paper drawings, not only will Green Bench’s IPB technology-based construction document management system reduce paper usage and costs, it will also improve organisation and project management, security, quality, accuracy, efficiency and communication.
Better yet, for every 200 drawings you upload onto a Green Bench we will plant one tree. We estimate we will plant thousands of trees every year. So instead of adding to the problem, by joining us you can become a big part of the solution.
